After beginning to play the saxophone at a young age, Wallace got his big break at the Howard Street Tavern in 1987, when his band Fusion Force opened two shows for Jazz Hall of Fame trumpeter Maynard Ferguson. Through 2002, Wallace performed around the world with Maynard, released 10 records, appeared on television and radio programs and performed with other jazz greats such as Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock. Currently, Matt performs in the Omaha area with several bands including Finest Hour, Fusion Force and Gooch’s Big Band. Most recently Matt was nominated for Best Jazz Performer at the 2018 Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards.
